KUTSINTA

Kutsinta is traditional snack in the Philippines, made with a mixture of tapioca flour, brown sugar and lye water, steamed and topped with grated coconut.

This snack is very easy to make and requires just few ingredients.

Equipment

  • 12 Hulmahan ng Kutsinta
  • 1 Steamer

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cup Harina or All Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Tapioca Flour
  • 1 ½ cups Asukal na Pula or Muscovado
  • 3 cups Tubig
  • 1 tbsp Atsuete Powder o Red Food Color
  • 1 tbsp Lye Water o Lihiya

Instructions
 

  • Pagsama-samahin ang harina, tapioca flour, asukal at atchuete o food color(optional) sa isang lalagyan at haluin.
    1 ½ cup Harina or All Purpose Flour, ½ cup Tapioca Flour, 1 ½ cups Asukal na Pula or Muscovado, 1 tbsp Atsuete Powder o Red Food Color
  • Lagyan ng tubig at haluing mabuti. Dagdagan ng food color kung kinakailangan ayon sa iyong nais na kulay.
    3 cups Tubig
  • Ilagay ang lihiya/lye water at haluin.
    1 tbsp Lye Water o Lihiya
  • Lagyan ng matikilya o butter ang mga hulmahang(moulds) gagamitin at lagyan ng pinaghalo-halong sangkap ang lahat hulmahan/moulds.
  • Iluto sa steamer sa loob ng 20 mins.
  • Palamigin at ihain ng may kasamang kinudkod na niyog(fresh grated coconut).

Paano kung walang niyog o fresh greated coconut para sa budbod ng kutsinta?

Maaaring gumamit ng DESICCATED COCONUT (dry greated coconut).

  • Maglagay ng 4 tbsp Desiccated Coconut sa mainit na kawali at haluin sa katamtamang apoy hanggang sa matusta ng bahagya(golden brown).
  • Palamigin at lagyan ng 2 tbsp asukal o ayon sa iyong panlasa.
